Here is my running class coach, Coach Peri.
First running class this morning
Celeste and I decided to park at RunTex and run the 1.5 miles over to Rogue to add in some extra miles. The class left together with the coach, Peri, and did 5 miles from Rogue to Longhorn Dam and back. So all total Celeste and I did 8 miles. During the class run I met a number of my fellow students including Rob, Briana, Surab, Diane, and Charlene. Some old familiar faces were at the start since all the classes were meeting at Rogue for their long runs. It feels good to me to be back running in a crowd, meeting people, and getting the miles in. Yet I need to tell Peri, the coach, that although I’ll put in 110% during the course and do what is asked of me that I will not be running the marathon and probably not running any of the distance-challenge races too.

OK, I’ve signed up
Austin Marathon Training Program 2008 : Tues 5:45 PM Beginner at Anderson HS. Remember this is just great exercise and that I’m only going to run the half marathon. I’m retired from full marathons, and I doubt that I’ll be running any races leading up to it either. On a second note, my son, Matthew, is beginning to prepare for his first marathon and I will do anything, yes anything, to help him complete this goal.

New Shoes
I stopped by Rogue Equipment and bought a pair of Nike Structure Triax 11 running sneakers. I tried to buy a pair last week at RunTex but they were out of them, and when I phoned Rogue Equipment later that day they said they had my size – woohoo. However I’ve been so busy or forgetful that although I’ve been meaning to get the sneaks I’ve not has a chance to get downtown to their shop to get them until yesterday. The old ones were absolutely worn out. I ran the Austin Marathon in them and should have retired them probably months ago. A rough calculation of miles on them is approximately 500 miles, that for me is about 200 miles too many. Katie very nicely today switched my running chip and dog-tag to my new shoes.
